Data and Financial Analyst

The Andover Public Schools seeks applications from talented data analysts to provide leadership and analytical focus to policy makers, district administrators and teachers in making sound academic, instructional, and financial decisions for a large suburban school system. Working closely with the Superintendent, the Data and Financial Analyst will ensure the integrity and systemic use of data to make a range of educational and financial decisions that promote and measure: the accountability and success of academic programming and services; the sound financial management of the budget; the provision of data to teachers and building administrators so they can make sound instruction interventions; and the key data needed to support productive short and long term strategic planning

Successful candidates will have a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in quantitative, qualitative and financial research, including analysis, testing and measurement, preferably in an educational institution; skill in the use of appropriate technology (SPSS, SAS); and two years of experience in an administrative or oversight capacity. DESE Administrator’s license preferred. A Doctoral degree in educational research, statistics, or mathematics preferred. Salary $80K-95K, commensurate with experience.

Health Resources in Action is a growing, non-profit public health institute located in Chinatown that has an immediate opening for a Contracts Administrator. The individual in this role will: create, update, and monitor project and departmental budgets, individually and within the overall organizational budget; evaluate expenses, prepare tracking files, and complete invoice submissions, drawdowns, and other billing; and prepare and review federal, state, local and non-government contracts, and oversee approval, filing, and compliance processes. Fall 2019 Course Highlight: MSIS 632 Introduction to Healthcare Informatics

The course provides an overview of relevant topics in healthcare information technology and assumes students have little knowledge about healthcare, information technology, and the affiliation between the two.

U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, TX regional office job openings

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Evaluation and Inspections (OEI) has posted several job openings for Social Science Research Analysts in our Dallas, TX regional office. The positions are entry-level, and open to recent graduates (graduation dates May 2017-Aug 2019) and current students.

OEI conducts national evaluations to measure the effectiveness of HHS policies and programs. Lean and Six Sigma course

Course Description (Unique Course for Practice)

The goal of this course is to train and engage students through hands-on experience to enhance their skills in performing process improvements and cost-reduction initiatives for real business challenges. The tools, techniques, and philosophies in this course have been used worldwide by best-in-class companies to improve their bottom lines, make them more competitive, and dramatically improve their responsiveness to customers. The aim is not to teach the theory that students may see in courses such as operations management, but rather to emphasize the use of these techniques in manufacturing and service industry.

The course includes small projects, case studies, and training videos from US factories, along with effective problem-solving methodologies, modern quality thinking, process flow analysis, and data analysis techniques to solve real problems in any business.

The materials, techniques, and cases will enhance students’ knowledge and skills to the level of a Six Sigma Green Belt and a Lean Certificate. The course is based on hands-on experience through cases and projects, with the structure of an applied workshop. Students who pass the course with an excellent grade will be strong candidates to join teams for problem solving, operations and process improvement, and Lean and Six Sigma initiatives.
