The characteristics that make shorelines resilient operate independently of municipal boundaries. Four adjacent Cape Cod communities, Eastham, Truro, Provincetown and Wellfleet, have partnered with CCS to develop a framework for an inter-municipal approach to shoreline management to promote science-based decisions that will maximize the effectiveness of community response to the increased threat of coastal hazards. An Inter-municipal Shoreline Management Geodatabase has been created to examine contemporary shoreline resilience conditions and characterize the four-town shoreline in the absence of municipal boundaries. Future phases of this project will further refine and implement the principles of the inter-municipal shoreline management framework.
