How to outline a paper

Hello,

It has come to my attention that my assumption that students are aware of how to write an outline for a paper was mistaken. I would like to rectify that situation.

Of course, you already know that a block outline for weekly write-ups is provided on the instructions page, since you completed your homework in the first week of classes, which included clicking through all links.

Still, I will highlight the relevant information here for convenience:

Here is the outline I suggest that you use when writing this paper:

Background on article topic
Introduce details of current article topic at hand
Analyze one viewpoint regarding the topic, including class terms as appropriate. Weigh viewpoint strengths and weaknesses.
Analyze another viewpoint regarding the topic, including class terms as appropriate. Weigh viewpoint strengths and weaknesses.
[continue as needed for all viewpoints]
Conclude: Given the pros and cons, which viewpoint is most applicable to find a solution for this issue? Why?

Please check the examples of weekly write-ups available for review on the class site.
