Sales lab 2.0 and MKT465 Entrepreneurship Sales and Marketing Information Session

Venture Development Center (VDC) and the Entrepreneurship Center have developed relationships with start-up firms in the Boston area in a variety of fields that are currently hiring interns, including a facility for sales interns that will be run out of UMass Boston at the VDC! Students are encouraged to network with employers to learn more about these internships.

We will be hosting Sales lab 2.0 and MKT465 Entrepreneurship Sales and Marketing Info Session. Students should be professionally dressed and bring a resume for employers to review. Short interviews are scheduled after the information session. Please sign up for interviews now or at the registration. Additionally, this event will give students the opportunity to explore MKT 465: Entrepreneurship Sales and Marketing as an elective course. Students should plan on networking with the employers prior to the event, and registration is HIGHLY recommended. MKT 465 Entrepreneurship Sales and Marketing: REGISTER TODAY!

Get a head start on your entrepreneurial endeavor. Register for MKT 465 through WISER today!

MKT 465: Entrepreneurship Sales & Marketing is a course that will prepare you for an entry level sales and marketing position in a startup initiative as well as prepare you to launch your own sales & marketing initiative in your own startup. Live role play scenarios with experienced sales and marketing entrepreneurs will prepare you for the multiple areas of responsibilities and interactions within a startup organization as well as outward facing prospect and customer responsibilities and interactions that are required in a startup. You will be exposed to the overall process and tools that drive a sales/marketing organization in a startup. Students will also be provided preparation assistance and giving priority consideration to the internships offered through UMass Boston’s Student Entrepreneurship Program (StEP).

You may also be interested in a new Sales 2.0 Lab that the Entrepreneurship Center plans to open in October at the Venture Development Center.  It will  offer paid sales internships for external companies, but right here on the campus.  As of now,  there are 11 sales internships to fill and the primary source will be those students on the MKT 465 course as students will have background course material to best position them for the roles.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both over the phone and in writing, are a must

  • Any IT or computer experience, even if self-taught, is a major plus
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills in the following areas are also a big plus:
  • Basic networking and setup
  • Salesforce
  • Virus detection and removal
  • Software installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Any experience in the hair salon or spa industry is also a plus

Compensation

  • 20 hours per week
  • $14 per hour

UMass Boston has appointed David McFarlane as the new Director of the Entrepreneurship Center (EC) at the of College of Management.  The EC is dedicated to enhancing the entrepreneurial education for our students by providing hands-on practice and experience in building start-up businesses and entrepreneurial careers. McFarlane will share his 25 years of knowledge and experience managing “hyper growth” in the software industry and discuss his record of successful IPOs, M&A exits, how to build a successful executive team and give advice on how to properly launch a start-up business.
