Graduation Quick Checks are happening NOW! Here are some common questions (and answers) about these events:
What is a Graduation Quick Check?
A Graduation Quick Check is an opportunity for students who are planning to graduate within the coming year to have an advisor quickly check over your degree audit to make sure you know which classes remain for graduation. Since students who attend this event are usually so close to graduation, there are only a couple of classes left to identify and/or discuss – which is why it is quick (students are usually in and out in 5 minutes). If there are more lengthy conversations needed, we can certainly make arrangements for those to happen as well. We set these Graduation Quick Check tables up in areas where we think/hope there will be high student traffic, so it save you time on coming up to our office and waiting at walk-ins as well -all adding to the “quick” feature.
Who should go to one?
Any College of Management student who thinks they will be graduating in December 2013 or May 2014. For potential December graduates, we can confirm that everything looks good for graduation. For potential May graduates, there is REAL VALUE for you – in that we can let you know exactly what remains so that you can be sure you are registering for everything you need once spring registration opens up (and avoid any unpleasant surprises in May). August 2014 graduates can attend a graduation quick check now, or in the spring semester.
When and where are they?
This week, we are holding them for College of Management students TODAY (Tuesday, 10/22) from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM on the first floor of McCormack Hall (near the elevators by the coffee shop) and THURSDAY, 10/24 from 3:00-5:00 on in the first floor lobby area of Wheatley Hall.
More broadly speaking, we hold them each October and March in high traffic areas around campus to make it easier (and quicker) for students to find us.
Why should I go?
Everyone wants to graduate, right? These events are just one of many outreach efforts to help you confirm that you are ON TRACK for graduation. We see a number of students who are surprised to learn they have just one more class to take and cannot graduate (and start a new job, or move, or go to grad school, or just generally get on with their life) until that last class is done. We hope that these opportunities to double check everything will help reduce and even eliminate those cases.
We hope you see you at a CM Graduation Quick Check this week!
