The Boston Teachers Union Oral History Project launched in 2020, co-directed by the BTU’s Betsy Drinan (Secretary-Treasurer, retired June 2020) and UMass Boston’s Nick Juravich (Assistant Professor of History and Labor Studies). The goal of the project is to collect in-depth oral histories with BTU leaders, organizers, and members that explore the lives and labor of educators in Boston and the evolution of the BTU since its chartering in 1945.
To date, Besty and Nick have conducted oral histories with twenty-five people. Audio and complete transcripts of these oral histories can be found on the UMass Boston Open Archives Digital Collections portal.
