Job Search and Application Process-– The job search and application process can sometimes be confusing and overwhelming. This workshop will teach you how to navigate UMass Boston’s My Career Online as well as how to effectively search the major Internet job databases and apply on company websites. You will also learn about applicant tracking systems and why the use of key words on your resume and cover letter is critical in your job search. Lastly, you will gain an understanding the job application process all the way from applying for jobs through receiving an offer. International Students and the Job Search–As an international student, you face specific career challenges in trying to secure employment in the United States. In this workshop you will learn effective job search techniques and strategies based on the book and website Power Ties by Dan Beaudry. Dan is a proven expert in the area of providing career advice for international students. In this workshop you will get advice about resumes, cover letters, networking and interviewing specifically geared to international students.
