STEM Educational Excellence

The Academic Continuity Task Force and the College of Science and Mathematics presented a series of workshops during August, 2020. A professional learning community of 12 STEM EDX Fellows (2 per department in CSM) continued working together during AY 20-21. These activities were designed to address:

STEM Educational Excellence in Remote Instruction at UMass Boston During the COVID-19 Pandemic

  • Workshop 1 (August 14, 2020): The Big Picture – Dimensions of equitable teaching when many students are challenged to learn in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Workshop 2 (August 21, 2020): Beginning with the End Goal – Learning theories and remote instruction
  • Workshop 3 (August 28, 2020): Developing a Plan – Remote learning course design and remote assessment
  • Equity-Focused Alternative Assessments: Resources for STEM faculty developed by the AY 20-21 STEM EDX Fellows
