UMass Boston Entrepreneurship Center Launch

It’s been almost two weeks since the press release and Mass High Tech article hit the streets and the response has been overwhelming.  I’m still digging out from the emails and phone calls.  Just a very positive response from students, the university and the start-up industry.   It seems that three themes have resonated.  The first is this just makes sense for UMass Boston and the time is right.  The second is that workforce development for the start-up community can be a significant advantage for the start-up community in Massachusetts.  And the third is alot of industry people asking how they can help.

The end result is we have alot more internship openings from start-ups coming in and alot more students requesting internships.  We have 46 internships filled with 23 companies to date.  In future blogs I’ll talk more about plans for entry level workforce training we’re doing for marketing, sales, finance, IT, QA, and software development  positions.

Regarding how people can help, we have mentor and guest lecture opportunities.  And we always appreciate more internship opportunities.
