Why “Star Wars” Is The Best Movie Franchise Of All Time

By Joe Doyle

Whether you were born in the 1960’s-1970’s, or in the 2000’s, you’ve most likely heard of Star Wars. Not only is it timeless but it is something that has arguably kept its enjoyment factor. There are plenty of movie franchises and sequels to films that come across as money grabs and the lack of quality its original had is quite noticeable. Not with Star Wars. People born around the time of the release of the original trilogy A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi all seem to claim that these are the best Star Wars. Kids born in the early 2000’s, like myself, claim the prequels The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith are the best Star Wars movies. Although it hasn’t happened yet, I wouldn’t be surprised if kids born around the time of the sequel movies, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker, start to say that these are the best Star Wars movies. What I’m trying to say is that no set of movies is universally seen as the best and that, in my opinion, goes to show the standard of quality that Star Wars has held for decades.

Not only has it been able to produce nine thrilling films, but the Star Wars universe has resulted in the creation of countless popular TV series like The Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Clone Wars and other separate films like Rogue One and Solo. There are several more Star Wars themed series that have been announced and are in production phases too. There are countless possibilities that the spectacular storyline and awe-inspiring universe created by George Lucas can produce.

Star Wars has touched generation after generation of people, and its massive fanbase is living proof of how much of a special place it holds in their hearts. My dad was a huge fan when he was a kid, I was a huge fan when I was a kid, and I plan on (hopefully) making my kids huge fans of it. Star Wars action figures, toys, memorabilia, costumes etc. are all some of the most popular items in terms of consumerism. Every kid fantasizes about things like having a lightsaber duel, dressing up as their favorite Star Wars character, playing with action figures which allows a child’s imagination to take over. There are even conventions where thousands of people get together, cosplaying and just overall talking about why they love these movies so much. Entire exhibits pop up in museums from time to time as well. An entire section of both Disney World and Disney Land called “Galaxy’s Edge” has even been constructed where there are Star Wars-themed rides, restaurants and hotels.

There are thousands of movies and franchises that get created every year, yet Star Wars has never fallen by the wayside. Its ability to withstand time and continue to entertain the world without failure is truly why I believe it is the best franchise of movies of all time.
