Moving Margins: Barbara Hammer’s Experimental Cinema.
Professor Sarah Keller will be discussing the works of late experimental filmmaker Barbara Hammer at Tufts University on Thursday, March 3rd at 6:30 PM in Barnum 08, as part of the “Independent Voices Series” presented by Tufts Film and Media Studies.
To quote the flyer, “Barabara Hammer is best known for her works from the early 1970’s, for a series of films both part of and ahead of their time in which she rapidly represents female subjects and subjectivity… the vital, mobile dynamics of her films and artworks shifted the margins of film production over many years to adapt to her cultural moment and to suit her own expansive interests.”
Professor Keller is the author of multiple books, her most recent being Barbara Hammer: Pushing Out of the Frame.
