Why the Oscars should go on with no host

According to Tvline, The Oscars ratings rise for first time in 5 years, with host-less telecast. https://tvline.com/2019/02/25/ratings-oscars-2019-no-host/
In my opinion I think the whole no host concept should be the norm now. That show breezed by without any cheesy, lame skits or monologues. I was surprised of how little I noticed that the host was missing. Come to think of it, most of what they do ends up slowing down the show, which is the opposite of what an MC should do. The awards show got right into the awards without any delay. The format worked quite well.
The problem is the skits tend to be very hit or miss and honestly a lot of the time it can feel like the host just messing around with their friends. This year there was better “flow” to the proceedings as it could just go from award to award with a few breaks here and there. Personally I didn’t care for the musical performances but they definitely have a higher floor than most of the skits, and Shallows with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper seems always a hit. Having a host has become a huge deal which means they try too hard to leave their mark on the show when the focus should be on the awards instead.
My personal favorite moment aside from Olivia Colman’s acceptance speech was the opening with Tina Fey, Amy Pohler and Maya Rudolph, it was all they needed. Just do some silly bit at the beginning to warm things up and you’re all set.
The big upset of the night was Green Book getting Best Picture. It was most likely that Roma was brigaded against by the older academy voters that thought that, “Netflix doesn’t make real movies, man.” and also I’d say it’s more the “We can’t let a streaming movie win because that’d cause a big wave in the film industry and we can’t afford to have too much shakeup” crowd than the old crowd. Bohemian Rhapsody has its own faults yet tt won several extremely prestigious awards tonight. That ship has sailed regardless.
