Internship Opportunity- at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

The Center for Resuscitation Science at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is looking for local college students to intern with us. Our center focuses on improving care for patients suffering from critical illness. Currently we are running multiple large scale randomized control trials related to sepsis, cardiac arrest, chronic pain, and diabetic ketoacidosis. As we are on the forefront of resuscitation science this is a great opportunity for students to be exposed to a fast paced clinical research environment. Beyond equipping students with valuable research skills we provide interns with the opportunity to observe emergency and critical care medicine in action. Interns often report clinical observation as one of the most rewarding elements of their work with us.

In the past we have had interns from Northeastern, Boston University, Tufts, Emmanuel and other local universities. These students have worked on a number of rewarding projects (some of which have led to publications) including patient screening, compiling/maintaining cardiac arrest databases, maintaining study infrastructure, and assisting in key logistical elements related to patient enrollment. These projects give students the ability to work alongside attending physicians and Harvard Medical School faculty. Many of our interns have gone onto full time employment with the center after graduation, pursued further postgraduate medical education, or accepted clinical research roles in industry.

We are looking for students who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be going into their senior or final year
  • Must be willing to commit for the full academic year at 8/hrs a week (excluding breaks and holidays)
  • Must be ok with an unpaid internship
  • Preference given towards students who are interested in taking the internship for course credit
  • Preference given towards students who start in the summer

Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to: crsinternship@bidmc.harvard.edu, Please name the docuements as follows LastName_resume or LastName_coverletter.

All interviews will be held remotely.
