The University of New England College of Dental Medicine ASDA Pre-Dental Committee is excited to announce that we will be hosting a Pre-Dental Q&A Webinar. This event is open to all Pre-Dental students who may or may not be applying this current cycle to inform them about schools, how to choose a school, what to expect when applying and what dental school entails.
The event is on July 26, 2020 from 12PM-2PM via Zoom. Students must register in order to receive a meeting link/ID and the event is FREE! Attached is a flyer with event info as well as how to register.
The Harvard Chapter of the American Student Dental Association would like to announce that it will be launching a Mock Interview Program for pre-dental students for the Summer/Fall of 2020. This program is intended to prepare students who are applying to dental school in the current cycle for their interviews.
These mock interviews will be held virtually. Each pre-dental student (interviewee) will be matched one-on-one with a current student at Harvard School of Dental Medicine (interviewer). Once you have been matched, we will send you your interviewer’s name and contact information. You will then be responsible for reaching out to them so you both can find a time (ideally anytime from July-October) to meet virtually through Zoom, Facetime, Google Hangouts etc. The mock interview should last no longer than 30 minutes and will conclude with an additional 5-10 minutes of feedback from the HSDM student.
This program is open to all pre-dental students. However, first priority will be given to pre-dental students who have submitted/are planning to submit their application this cycle (2020-2021).
Spots are limited, so participants will be chosen on a first come first served basis. To participate, please fill out this survey (closes on August 3rd 2020):
This is meant to be a low-pressure, low-stakes opportunity to practice for your real dental school interviews. HSDM does not communicate with any admissions committees from any dental schools whatsoever, including HSDM. However, preparing adequately for the mock interview will allow you to take away the most from this experience and help you better understand what aspects of the interview could be improved. Specific information on how best to prepare will be sent in a follow-up email once you are matched with an interviewer.
The Bridge to Dental School is a FREE 10-session program* that will take place via Zoom from 9 AM to 12 PM EST, on Saturdays and Sundays, from July 11, 2020 to August 9, 2020. It is an interactive program that will be led by current DMD students at HSDM and will cover the following content:
DAT Prep: Including organic chemistry, general chemistry, PAT, biological sciences, reading comprehension, and quantitative reasoning
Dental school application prep: Including writing the personal statement and interviewing skills
The program will grant attendees the opportunity to forge relationships with mentors and peers that will extend beyond the summer, and the participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from HSDM at the end of the program.
There are only two requirements to attend the program: 1) The candidate must identify as an underrepresented minority and/or of low-income background; and 2) The candidate must commit to attending all 10 sessions.
Click here to access the application. The deadline for applications is Friday, June 26, 2020.
