Biological and Environmental Sciences M.S., Ph.D.

The M.S. and Ph.D. in Biological and Environmental Sciences (BES) are interdisciplinary, interdepartmental graduate degrees that involve faculty from multiple departments in URI’s College of the Environment and Life Sciences (CELS), including Biological SciencesCell and Molecular BiologyFisheries, Animal and Veterinary ScienceGeosciencesNatural Resources ScienceNutrition and Food Sciences; and Plant Sciences; as well as faculty from the Graduate School of Oceanography.

Students in the BES graduate degree program pursue research in the specializations described below. Prospective students should indicate which specialization they are interested in when applying to the program and are encouraged to contact individual faculty to learn more about specific graduate research opportunities.
