The Department of Gerontology at UMass Boston presents five annual awards to deserving graduate students. Four of the awards include a $200 prize to be used for the students’ professional development. Winners of the Capstone Project Award are honored with a book of their choice.
Gerontology Dissertation Book Award:
Shu Xu, PhD ‘24 and Anyah Prasad, PhD ‘24 (co-winners)
The Gerontology Dissertation Book Award is presented to a graduating doctoral student(s) for the completion of an outstanding dissertation project.
Gerontology Scholarship Award:
Janelle Fassi, doctoral student
The Gerontology Scholarship Award is presented to a doctoral, masters (Research Policy Track) or certificate student (Research Policy Track) for an original paper that shows scholarly rigor and makes a contribution to the discipline.
Gerontology Service Award:
Yan-Jhu Su, doctoral student
The Gerontology Service Award is presented to a doctoral student making satisfactory academic progress who exhibits outstanding contributions to the Department, the University, and the discipline.
Gerontology Wu Paper Award:
Kunyu Zhang, doctoral candidate
The Gerontology Wu Paper Award is presented to a doctoral student for an original paper focused on Asian-American or Asian older adults, with particular emphasis on Chinese older adults.
The Gerontology Capstone Project Award:
Kelli Fieldhouse and Nicholas Bradley (co-winners)
The Capstone Award is presented to a masters student in the Management of Aging Services track.
