Free, non-credit informal seminar offered by the CCT program, open to the public. The Collaborative Exploration (CE) format, inspired by a problem-based learning approach, consists of hour-long structured dialogues in Zoom for 4 weeks in a row, with an emphasis on curiosity and inquiry. In between online meetings, participants explore the topic according to their own interests, and then the meetings promote learning as participants share their ongoing insight and questions.
Description of theme: Reflective Practice involves the process of reflecting on our assumptions and experiences to support change in our ongoing teaching, leadership, artistry, activism, and other professional and personal areas. We might think of this as a way to develop creative solutions to problems, update our approaches as circumstances change, our build our own professional and personal capacities. In what ways though, can we support healing, repair, and recovery of ourselves and our communities as well? How do we perceive the choices and actions that are available to us about how we work and live in environments where there has been trauma or damage? In this Collaborative Exploration, we will consider how reflective practitioners might shape their work to not only improve what is not working well but also restore the well-being that has been lost in the face of disruptive or destructive forces. Participants explore these themes in the way most important to them and then share ongoing ideas to support the learning of the group.

Call for Proposals: Contemplative Practitioners in Higher Education: Showing Up in our Fullness
For an upcoming volume (to be published in 2024) through the Center for Contemplative Mind in Society’s (CMind) Association for Contemplative Mind in Higher Education:
“Our intention is to build upon and expand the important work of the foundational 2014 text by Daniel Barbezat & Mirabai Bush, Contemplative Practices in Higher Education: Powerful methods to transform teaching and learning. Barbezat and Bush’s text opened contemplative pedagogy to a broader audience, provided examples of practices in different disciplines, and gave shape and contour to an emerging field while allowing for individual interpretation, adaptation, and application of practices. Now, ten years later, our volume centers the people who engage in these practices in order to explore more deeply the notion that one’s own contemplative journey is a critical foundation for undertaking this work in the world.” more… To submit a proposal, please send by April 1, 2022 an email attachment to ContemplationInHigherEd@gmail.com that covers the proposal requirements.
