In this series of dialogues, we consider the role of reflective practice for thinking critically and creatively about work and life. Reflective Practice is relevant to any field and refers to how we make connections between our past experiences and future actions. For each participatory hour-long session, we focus on one theme that represents a common challenge to the reflective practitioner. We use a structured dialogue process to support each participant to recall and make sense of their experience and then develop ideas about where they might change their practices to support their ongoing and future encounters with that challenge.
Theme for December 14, 2023: Reflective Practice for Embracing Creative Risk
Full description of the theme: This session on “Creative Risk” addresses the questions of what we mean by such a term and how it influences our practices. In the period of following the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we might readily embrace other “R”s in our experience, such as recovery, repair, realignment, and restoration. Where is there room for risk during this period – to also move forward in spaces where there remains some degree of uncertainty and instability? Where do we continue along previous lines, and where do we move away from the accepted paths of our work, learning, and lives?
