The Charles River Wheelmen (CRW), a recreational cycling group in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was co-founded by Ralph Galen and Fred Chafee in 1966. CRW members get together for weekly bicycle rides and frequent social events in the Boston area. The organization provides a network for cyclists and collaborates with other cycling groups to organize regional and national gatherings. The image represents the League of American Wheelmen getting ready to mount thier bicycles for an organized ride at the Rockport Rally held in Rockport, Massachusetts in 1969. The CRW, under the leadership of Ralph Galen, coordinated the rally for the national bicycling club, the League of American Wheelmen (LAW).
