That's So Me!

That’s So Me!

“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.”

— Louis L’Amour

Portrait of intern looking over shoulder. My name is Malita Rosa, a new intern at UMass-Boston IT and a writing enthusiast. I have wanted to be involved in the writing/journalism career since I was in early middle school and I have always had a great passion to compose my own works of literature; this internship opportunity is bringing me a step into the direction I want myself to be in.

At first glance it may not appear as if writing is something I want to pursue, but writing is my everything. I hold it on a pedestal, it is my life and I can not even begin to imagine where I see myself without it.

However, writing is not the only thing that has my heart, it’s just the thing that owns a majority of it. I am a student athlete in the Boston Public Schools district. I participate in the girls Varsity teams for Volleyball, Basketball and Softball, alternating between playing Basketball and running Track in the winter season every year.

Outside of school I work part time in the Boston area and take part in a program called ‘Urban Scholars’. I started the summer after my freshman year of high school and now I am going into my senior year, it has been a great almost three years.

I have gotten to meet some of my closest friends through the program and have been able to network with amazing professors in the Massachusetts area. For example this past December I was given the opportunity to speak on a live, broad-casted panel and present a speech on whether or not Faneuil Hall should be renamed.

I am beyond excited to be here! I can not wait to see where this internship brings me and what new skills I will be able to develop this summer. Along with showing you all what I have to bring to the table.
