I think that this study is very valid, as we’ve all learned this semester. I would have to say that the continual quizzes do enforce attendance and attention. While the material is not impossible, it is easier to do better if you’ve been in class and have been paying attention to the lecture. While this is clearly a productive way to learn and remember the material, it does get annoying to have quizzes every week. I would question the attendance percentages, as perhaps people left after taking the tests, and read on their own. If I had tests/quizzes everyday in everyone of my classes I’m sure I would have much better grades but I would constantly stressed and unable to have a life outside of school.

This passage has actual meanings at this time because it points out an very significant issue—test and quiz. It is the top thing for students since they has their school lives. As for quizs it’s not easy for pople to accept it because it takes up much more time than normal. Like the article mentions, “Most students hated it at first, For the first few weeks, every time their friends went out drinking, they couldn’t go; they had yet another test the next day.”In this case, students will have less time for each semester and there will be more things for thme to deal with. In some ways their spare time can be killed seriously.
Usually in a semester there are only mid-term and final exams provides for each students so they think they only need to do well for these two main things and they will be all set. However, not everyone is good at “make the effort at the last moment” and if the students don’t have this skills the result can be very disappointed. However, people misunderstood the reason why they need to do it. In the passage it is easy to find out the reason, “writing down all you can remember from a studied prose passage — can deepen the memory of that passage better than further study.” According to the passage, quizs are not difficult like real exams, they are the study process of each semester and the main goal is to let students figure out how many they are learnt right now and how many they can handle. Sometimes quizs are benefit s to students because it teaches them a big lesson: every quiz is the time to locating and making up the deficiencies for different students. Thanks for the help of quizs so students can have clear mind of how to study next or they wil lose thier mind and doing works in vain. As students opinion, several quizs does give them more benefits but they still meet difficults, “The harder part for me was always when old questions you had missed previously came back.” This is true because that’s why quizs can be great materials for preparing exams. If you made mistakes in quizs you still have chance to make up, quiz is the way ti help you reinfirce your ability and bieng all set for exams. Like before the battle we must need several maneuver. With quizs students can have more confident towards thier next step and hopefully get the method for further study. Thus acculmative quizs are good for students at any time. With regard to relax, students should be more clear about it because their main goal is study , relaxing is based on study otherwise they may lose the meanings of being a student.

This research proves the positive impact of frequent tests and does make sense to me as I look back on my personal experiences in college. If I have quizzes or tests often in class, I tend to study the material more constantly and think more frequently about the class than when I have only midterm and final exams. However, in my case, if I have a lot of texts or quizzes in a semester, I get used to taking tests and gradually less likely to study as the semester goes on. And when I hear the ward “test” or “quiz,” I tend to consider about it less seriously than when I heard “exam.” Therefore, I become less likely to study carefully and intensely if I have tests frequently. As a result, there is no big difference of the end result between when I have frequent tests and when I have only MT and final exam. From this point of view, I predict that such positive effects of frequent texts are not approved by all students, especially those who usually study intensively hard for exams compared to texts and quizzes. And the seriousness and intensity of preparation for a text decrease as students get used to taking tests. It would be good as long as people remain their anxious or concerns about a test, however, when they habituate to take the same styled tests over and over and no longer have a certain level of stress, the frequent tests cannot effectively work on the improvement of students’ academic performance since it does not motive students to study any more.

This study has actually some significant and important outcomes. from my own experience, I think that having quizzes frequently does improve the student’s performance. I believe that quizzes also help students understand the materiel better. however, in my case the quizzes’ positive affects didn’t last throughout the whole semester. for instant, this semester “in my learning and memory class” my grades were high at the beginning of the semester but there was a significant decrease at the end. I studied very well at first, I got very good grades on my quizzes, but than that changed. I kind of got used to having quizzes and I didn’t think about them to much. usually when a student has a quiz coming, they get nerves, they make they studied. however in my case, I got used to them so I didn’t feel the same feeling as I did before. also I didn’t put to much effort when studying for a quiz. therefore, my grades went down the hill and it was to late for me to save myself. however, I agree that having quizzes every week does help me students with their attendance. in our class, every time we had a quiz the class gets full, and they actually stay even after the quiz. to be honest , I didn’t really like having quizzes every week , but than I got used to them and I found out that they did help me understand the materiel, and made it easy for me to study for the exam. overall, quizzes are not bad. they do help improve students’ performance and grades but at the same time they can be dangerous.

I agree entirely with this study. As mentioned, we learned this firsthand this semester. Obviously, as college students, these quizzes and tests will be thought of as “annoying” because it is one more thing to study for and so frequent. However, the quizzes can be a grade booster. By having to constantly review the material, we gain a better grip of the material that we are learning. Also, by having constant quizzes and tests, it makes students more likely to show up for class. This is a major factor because it prompts students to focus more on what is being taught, therefore the information will be retained much better. Especially in a large class, such as the one we are in, sometimes students will consider attendance optional because the teacher does not enforce attendance by having it affect our grade greatly. By having quizzes constantly, students are much more likely to show up to class because they do not want to miss the quiz. Also, constant quizzes will make studying for the exam easier. Most of the material will already be in our memory, making the exam feel easier for us. I agree entirely with this study that frequent quizzes and exams are beneficial to our grades.
