MENTORING
Although there are certain core courses that are required of all PhD in Business Administration students at the College of Management, your program of study is individualized based on your research interests and background. You will work with a faculty advisor and faculty track lead on choosing courses that best fit your interests.
General Questions
The PhD in Business Administration Program Office should be your primary resource for questions related to your program.
- For administrative, policy, general program, and curriculum questions, Richard Wong, the PhD Program Administrator is your primary resource.
- For curriculum and track specific questions, your track specific faculty lead should be your primary resource.
Initial Faculty Mentor
As a new PhD student, we understand that you are still developing your research interests and that your dissertation advisor may not yet be clear to you. For this reason, you will be assigned an initial mentor from the faculty, whom you’ll work as a research assistant and who will serve as your academic resource as a doctoral student. In addition, we encourage you to use this person as a resource to acclimate yourself to life as a scholar at UMB. You may or may not end up collaborating with this faculty member on research, but he or she should serve as one of your resources to the discipline.
