Culture: the commonalities in behavior, norms, and language among a particular group of individuals.

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, culture is “the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group” (Merriam-Webster). The etymonline website depicts the etymology of the word. The site explains that culture was originally used to describe the act of preparing soil to be planted (Culture). Around the 16th century culture is seen used in metaphors, comparing its original connotation (fertile soil) with the development of society and mind (Culture). In the 21st century culture has various connations, definitions, and even areas of study.
