My Journey so far….

About me

My journey at UMass Boston began at the beginning of the fall of 2013 when I flew into Boston, MA for my Master’s degree. My parents and grandparents have always emphasized the importance on education, which has been instilled in me. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College in India as well as gained experience in the construction field for more than six years for a reputed Cement manufacturing company in Mumbai, India. After moving to United States in 2013, I was ready to conquer a graduate degree in Information Technology because of my undying inquisitiveness to understand the symbiosis between IT and business.

My favorite part of being an UMass Boston student was the flexibility factor. That is, if I wanted to be involved in a particular academic group of students or professors and remain extremely active, I could. If, due to the realities of life, I needed to lesson my involvement on campus and just remain as student first and foremost I could. The community is so flexible that one can fit and tailor their own “best experience” for academics and college communities that best fits them. Everyone has something to teach you. Teachers and instructors of course, but the administrative staff have helped me and taught me just by exemplifying excellent business practices and services orientation. Students younger than me, with completely different backgrounds, to fellow students 30 years my senior all at some point touched me in a way such that I could draw from that collective knowledge and include that in the education between the actual credits. I gave myself a chance to learn beyond my comfort zone, and seek out students and Professors that may be a little “different” than what I am accustomed to. I got a far rich learning experience and a degree that is unique and relevant to real life.

This biography is written with assistance and support of my dear friend named Pranav P Singh, who is exploring options in Legal Metrics and Legal Department Operations for further studies. Pranav is a final semester MBA student at University of Massachusetts Boston.
