The days are shorter, the leaves are changing, we must be in the middle of the fall semester.

It is time to officially welcome our new members of the College of Management community and to welcome back all who are returning—students and faculty.

To all of our newly accepted students who will be joining us in the spring semester, congratulations!  We can’t wait to have you join us.

I have been attending several events, orientations, and seminars over the past two months and I look forward to even more activities as the semester progresses. One particular event which was both exhilarating and nostalgic was the Alumni and Student Meet and Greet that took place on the 50th floor of the Prudential Center at the Skywalk Observatory. Our esteemed alumni and master’s students came together to network and talk about future career opportunities. It was extremely rewarding to see our Alumni move boldly ahead in their careers and perform exceptionally well at their organizations. The current students were thrilled to learn about the challenges and opportunities available to all of them.  The room was not only full of alumni and students, but our Associate Dean- James Grant along with other esteemed faculty members and staff were also able to join us for the event.

I continue to have opportunities to know our students closely and further understand their needs and expectations.  Our alumni, students and faculty value the AACSB accreditation, which undoubtedly frames the fundamentals of our programs here at the College of Management.

AACSB accreditation is a testament of the College of Management commitment to quality, value, and convenience.  The exceptional quality of the programs enables flexibility and accessibility, allowing the University of Massachusetts Boston to produce talented, hard-working students and ambitious, inspirational leaders.

A week before the Meet and Greet event, we had an opportunity to host over sixty employers at the Business, Accounting, and Finance Career Expo, who came to campus to share career opportunities with our students.

In addition, there are several student organizations who contribute to bringing the community together. The Student Ambassador Council (SAC), the National Association of women MBA’s (NAWMBA), and Delta Sigma Pi (Xi Phi) are some examples.  These students and organizations work diligently, along with the faculty and staff, to bring together high-caliber speakers and valuable seminars for the students and community in general.

These are some of the wonderful events that we have hosted and I promise you that this is just the beginning. Nothing is more important to us than making the educational and professional journey of the students, faculty, and staff more memorable and enriching than ever.

For those who are here for the first time, welcome! For all, until next time!
