Juan David Gutierrez and Nasiba Norova, Ph.D. candidates of Applied Linguistics, College of Liberal Arts presented the research titled Navigating Transnational Student/Junior Scholar/Language Educator identities in the USA: Duoethnography of Becoming at the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) 2023 Conference as Teacher Education, Beliefs, and Identities (TED) and Research Methodology (REM) strands in Portland, Oregon. Juan and Nasiba, first-generation transnational doctoral students and emerging scholars of color unpack lived experiences related to teaching and research by scrutinizing their positionalities and reflexivities in dialogic duoethnography. They examine their transnational doctoral students’ identities that transcend cross-cultural, national, and political borders and navigate across the realms of scholarly research and language education.
