Julia Donnelly Spiegelman Ph.D. candidate together with Kimberly Urbanski, Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics, College of Liberal Arts presented the research titled “I’ll mix it up”: Linguistic self-expression among non-binary adolescent learners of French and Spanish at the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) 2023 Conference as Language, Gender, and Sexuality (LGS) and Language, Culture, and Socialization (LCS) strands in Portland, Oregon. Julia’s research explores how non-binary adolescents express their identities in French and Spanish foreign language classroom contexts.
