Each year the Applied Linguistics Department organizes the Round Table discussions that present space for doctoral students to present their current research to the whole department, have a dialogue about the process of conducting and writing research, and receive feedback from their professors and peers.
The RTs space is an open and welcoming space for students to discuss sticky or challenging aspects of doctoral students’ dissertation journey or academic work. The point is not to bring polished presentations, but to use this space to build upon our own academic expertise with our mentors. Each roundtable has a discussant – a professor from the Applied Linguistics department who is an expert in their field and leads the discussion.
This academic year 2022 – 2023, Round Tables take place every first Friday of each month in the mornings and sessions include Multilingual Studies, CDA and Multimodal Studies, Teacher Identity, Beliefs, and Practices, Ethnography of Language Learning, Language Learners in Classroom Settings and Ethnography in Diverse Settings.
