Camp Shriver is a free and all inclusive summer program for kids ages 8-12 . They accept both children with and without disabilities which is what makes Camp Shriver unique. Their mission is to use sports as a vehicle to bring children with and without disabilities together so that they have the opportunity to develop their motor and social skills, create positive peer relationships and make new friends. I attended their end of the summer celebration where each child received an award. Some awards included being the kindest, having the coolest swimsuit, being a social butterfly, ect. There were all types of wacky, fun awards. All I could see were happy faces. Many kids were emotional, one child cried, another child ran quickly to get their awards. It was a fun environment, I could see that all the kids were happy to be there and that they all enjoyed their summer at Camp Shriver.
