Urban Scholars: Summer 2014
Urban Scholars kicked off the summer component of their year-round program on Monday, June 30 with a festive BBQ at UMass Boston’s Fox Point Pavilion. It was a spectacular event where students got to mingle and play some of their favorite sports and team-building games. Tramel and I got a chance to chat with Suamy Ventura, the program assistant with Urban Scholars. Suamy said, “I’m excited to be partaking in activities with our students and seeing them grow throughout the summer!” Urban Scholars’ staff is fired up for the new classes they are offering their students this summer. Classes include Research Psychology, Own Your Voice!, Boston Strong, and French. Along with these courses, Urban Scholars students have many field trips, sports and team-building activities where they can grow and bond with each other. Tramel and I are super excited to welcome Urban Scholars back to the Summer Youth Blog and to be able to work with them this summer of 2014.
I really liked the first day of the program because that’ when we got to reunite with our old friends and make new friends with some of the new kids.
