Pediatric Neurology Volunteer and Intern Opportunity at Boston Medical Center

Boston Medical Center in the division of pediatric neurology, are currently recruiting volunteers and interns for the summer and fall to assist in an exciting new project. We are implementing novel telehealth tools for children and youth with epilepsy, and we are looking to expand our team of undergraduate navigators who coach families on how to use these tools, and also conduct research on the success of our interventions. This is a great opportunity for undergraduates looking for their first clinical experience, especially those who are hoping to find a long-term commitment. Other volunteers have gone on to work on our patient-centered podcast series, and others now have one-on-one mentoring relationships with teen patients through one of our sister programs at the BU School of Medicine.

All of our volunteers can expect to build relationships with our pediatric neurologists and neurology research team, as well as receive individualized training throughout the first month of their service. Most volunteers work a 4-hour shift (either 9am to 1pm or 1pm to 5pm) on a week day, but we are flexible depending on the student’s goals and demonstrated ability to work independently. We ask that interested students apply as soon as possible as Boston Medical Center requires an immunization history, TB check, and HIPAA training before volunteers begin working with patients. Any student that would like to express interest should first send a brief cover letter and resume to madeline.niemann@bmc.org.
