Have you stopped to think how a diverse society, in which many cultures get in contact, could affect people’s lives? Well, this blog is based on a research project, “Multiculturalism & STEM Success”. This research project was launched four years ago by the Anthropology Professor, Dr. Rosalyn Negrón and Biology Professor, Dr. Adán Colón-Carmona. Our research team is composed by two UMass Boston professors, a visiting scholar and two UMass Boston-graduate research assistants. We have been crafting the STEM Education Equity and Diversity (SEED) webpage and blog to share findings, data, resources, and research experiences with you. We have been exploring UMass Boston student’s experiences in STEM coursework, including their reasons for staying in the major or switching majors. We seek to study the influence of Multiculturalism among underrepresented minorities on their STEM success.
Do you want to participate in or gain information about the STEM study on campus? Or do you want to learn about current news or events related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics? Are you in or have been in this field and want to voice your opinion and thoughts on STEM? Or just envision STEM true Equity and Diversity? Well, we do too!
This blog will serve all those purposes, so stay tuned!
