Touchdown in Glasgow!

The eight of us have fortunately been chosen as the UMB Ambassadors of the UMASS Boston/ Glasgow Caledonian University Exchange.

Today, we finally arrived in Glasgow!!!

After missing our first connecting flight (due to strange security in Heathrow), we arrived in Glasgow around noon. Although everyone else was fortunate, I was the unlucky one that had my suitcase delayed, meaning that as of now, I still don’t have it L. Other than that, everything has been going smoothly. We took a bus ride to the hotel and after a quick wash-up, we left to tour the city!

While there are so many things that are similar about Glasgow and Boston, there are many more differences. Overall, the feel that you get in this city is unique. Cars drive on the opposite sides of the roads, the accent is crazy different, and takes some getting used to, and the buildings have such a majestic feel to them! The GCU students are very welcome and all of the Scottish people I have dealt with have been very kind and helpful!

We had some down time to walk around and see a preview of the city. Tomorrow, we will have an official tour on a city bus, and although I haven’t seen much of it, I know that the sites will be amazing. From what I have seen, here are some pictures of the sites:

Disclaimer: I guess we got really lucky and arrived on a sunny day. The gray clouds came in for a little bit but quickly went away. Hopefully the weather will stay as nice as it was today, but from what I’ve heard, there are no guarantees.

Although the image may not accurately demonstrate it, there were so many people walking the center of Glasgow. There are many stores and restaurants, as well as street performers!
