e-Accessibility is the quality of electronic media that allows it to be reached by as many people as possible.
An audio version should be included with all written content and images should have an alternative description:
- It is estimated that 36 million people are blind, 216 million people have moderate to severe visual impairments, and 188 million people have mild visual impairment (Bourne et al. 2017).
- According to a Dyslexia International report published in 2014, “Dyslexia occurs in at least one in 10 people, putting more than 700 million children and adults worldwide at risk of life-long illiteracy and social exclusion.”
Audio and video content should have an included transcript:
- According to the World Health Organization’s Deafness and Hearing Loss Fact Sheet, around 466 million people worldwide have disabling hearing loss.
