The plan for the first lesson of the module is included below. This lesson focuses on introduction to the nanoscale, and the tools required to observe it. Students are introduced to the Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), a commonplace nanoscience tool, via a LEGO model.

The LEGO AFM model used for this project was largely based off Prof. Keunhan Park at the University of Utah’s model.
