Working With A Team

Communication in a group project is key. This is where programs like Skype come in handy. While the discussion board on the class website is also convenient, on Skype you are able to see who you are talking to, or you can chat in a chat room, or instant message environment. While starting off communicating through basic e-mail our group began to interact through the class discussion board and moved eventually to Skype. I feel that Skype is the best of these three methods and suggest it to anyone else trying to communicate with their group members. Thanks!

Smart Mobbing

With modern technology continually advancing, people are taking advantage of this and are using it as a force for social change. Some examples of Smart Mobbing are \”On November 30, 1999, autonomous but internetworked squads of demonstrators protesting the meeting of the World Trade Organization used \”swarming\” tactics, mobile phones, websites, laptops, and PDAs to win \”The Battle of Seattle.\” and \”In September 2000, thousands of citizens in Britain, outraged by a sudden rise in gasoline prices, used mobile phones, SMS, email from laptop PCs, and CB radios in taxicabs, to coordinate dispersed groups that blocked fuel delivery at selected service stations in a wildcat political protest.\” (From \”Smart Mobs-The Next Social Revolution\”) Smart Mobbing has shown us that people can group together and create change, and that together our voices have a better chance of being heard, and this technology is making it easier.
