Catie Tobin

Catie Tobin is a PhD student in Environmental Science. Prior to UMass Boston, she worked at an environmental nonprofit, Clean Ocean Action, in Highlands, New Jersey where she focused on the issues of marine debris from science, policy, education and citizen action perspectives. She completed her BS in Biology with minors in chemistry, microbiology and Spanish at Quinnipiac University. There she studied the environmental impacts of pollutants, BBP and acetone on a local fish species. As an intern at the Dolphin Communication Project she researched the social behavior and acoustic interchange in a dolphin species. Her current research interests include the concentration of microplastics in the marine environment and their impact on marine life.
