Pax East 2018 is Coming

PAX (originally known as Penny Arcade Expo) is a series of gaming festivals held in Seattle, Boston, Melbourne, Philadelphia, and San Antonio. PAX was created by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, the authors of the Penny Arcade webcomic, because they wanted to attend a show exclusively for gaming.

Created in 2004, PAX has been hailed as a celebration of gamer culture. Defining characteristics of the festival include an opening keynote speech from an industry insider, game-culture inspired concerts, panels on game topics, exhibitor booths from independent and major game developers and publishers, a LAN party, tabletop game tournaments, and video game freeplay areas. Every PAX also features the Omegathon, a festival long tournament consisting of a group of randomly selected attendees competing for a grand prize. The final round of the Omegathon makes up the closing ceremony of PAX. Past games for the final round have included Tetris, Pong, Halo 3, and Skee ball. (Wikipedia)

Our Game: Iventure

From reporter of stack-up.org

This year, UMass Boston’s team n3game displayed an entertaining (if a little dizzying) game called Iventure. In this remarkably polished scroller, the player must jump from one floating rock down to the next without hitting traps or skipping more than four levels. Here’s the catch: Inventure is a VR game on the HTC Vive, so in order to descend the endless pit of platforms, the player needs to physically look down and walk around! Needless to say, people with vertigo should stay far away from this game. For the rest of us, it’s a fun and innovative experience using some of the newest design techniques today. (TANNER HASTINGS)
