Day #3 in Glasgow

Our third day in the beautiful city of Glasgow was just as exciting and adventurous as the past 2 days. We started the day by working on the Stem Cells Wiki with the GCU students. After that, we attended a Chemistry “tutorial” and lab at GCU. It is interesting to note that their “tutorials” are what we call “discussions” but it’s the same concept. Their Chemistry professor was hilarious and it was an absolute pleasure to attend his class! Right after that, we attented Chemistry lab and watched the GCU students do a chromatography lab. Another interesting fact is that they only have 3 to 4 labs per semester while we have about 10 to 12!

Next we went to a restaurant called Ketchup and no they don’t put ketchup in every dish! The restaurant was a cozy place with a mirrored wall full of ketchup bottles in front of it. We all ordered burgers that were huge! Next came the most fun part of the day- Pop Quiz at a pub in Eastern Glasgow. To get to the pub called Curler’s Rest, we took the Glasgow Subway- also called The Clockwork Glasgow. The size of the train was exactly what I had expected- it was so small and narrow! It was a good experience and I have to give the Subway credit for being super fast though!   For the Pop Quiz, we divided ourselves into three teams and we named our group “Team Boston and Melissa” (Melissa Stewart is an amazing GCU host student. Although none of the people we knew won anything, we still had a great time interacting with each other. After coming back from Curler’s Rest, we went out to a restarant called Kraves and had the best cheese pizza ever! We had a pleasant walk back to our hotel going down beautiful lit-up streets of Glasgow!
