Day 1 – Welcome GCU Students

After anxiously waiting for two week, the day had finally came. Driving to the airport to finally meet and welcome the GCU students was extremely exciting. After nervously waiting in my car and staring at the E
106 door, I finally see the students walk out and over to my car with their luggage. I was filled with excitement. Surprisingly, there was no traffic driving home. Squeezing 6 people in a 5 person vehicle forced us to be very up close and personal.  As we got back to the hotel, the students were able to finally settle down and relax after a long plane ride. Soon after, the events had started. They were first able to walk the harbor as a group getting a feel of what the area they are staying at is like. The smell of clams, fish, and salt water was their first scent impression of Boston. After walking the harbor, we GCU airport pickupwere all able to go into the City. After struggling a little with the ticket gates of the train station, we finally got to Harvard square. Since everyone was hungry, we decided go to Shake Shack. There was where I learned that in Scotland, it is called chips; where here, it is called french fries. That was very interesting. After having a nice dinner together, we walked over to Harvard yard to get pictures and to see the outside of the library. Since everyone was pretty tried, we decided to head back to the Hotel and rest up for the long and busy day that was ahead of us tomorrow. Overall, aside of the hotel situation, the missing luggage, the weird man on the train incident, and the Boston road rage incident, it was an amazing Sunday and great meeting Joe, Alanis, Allan, Anna, Zara, and Rumaisah and being able to give them all a small introduction of the Boston Area.
