Hello my name is Scott and I have been given the opportunity to represent UMass Boston in Glasgow, Scotland. This being my first time on a plane, I was a wee (common word in Scotland!) bit worried about the plane trip. It turned out to be pretty standard, I left Logan at 9 pm and the trip to London Heathrow was successful. When we landed in London, it was non-stop rush all the way to Scotland. It turned out that our flight to Scotland was 30 minutes after our arrival to London, so we had to literally run all the way through borders (left my retina scan in their database :D), then through security, and then through departure. It does not sound like a lot, but we had someone escort us through most of it, and when you have no idea where you are, it is definitely intimidating. One of our ambassadors, Nancy, had to take another flight to Glasgow because she accidentally left liquid in her bag during security (we had 10 minutes before the plane left). Through all the pandemonium we all arrived at Scotland successfully, and our student guides escorted us to the hotel. Interesting tidbit, the name Scott in Scotland is pronounced “Scaught”, the T is not pronounced in Scotland; courtesy of another Scott I met in Scotland.
