I have always been interested in journalism and media writing, getting just a taste throughout my life. But it wasn’t until this class that I really got the chance to dive deep into different kinds of writing I could experience and figure out my specific writing style.

In my journalism course at UMass Boston, we focused on multiple areas of writing, audiences, and platforms to gain a broad range of experiences. We had four units: interview writing, review writing, prose, and a ‘choose-your-own’ where I decided on humor. In each of these units, we were to mimic a different online outlet/company by its formatting, writing style, organization, etc., as if I were to publish the piece to the respective site.
