In the Short story “The Cheaters Guide to Love ” there were different types of ways the author narrated through out the story. one being first point of view and the other second point of view . 1st point of view is defined as “the form of a verb or pronoun used to refer to the speaker or writer. In English, the first-person singular pronoun is “I,” and the plural is “we.” and 2nd point of view is defined as the narrator telling you the story using another character using the word ‘you.’ This point of view is not that common in literature, although there are examples of it. in the very first sentence Junot Diaz states “your girl catches you cheating. (Well, actually she’s your fiancée, but hey, in a bit it so won’t matter.) She could have caught you with one sucia, she could have caught you with two, but because you’re a totally batshit cuero who never empties his e-mail trash can, she caught you with fifty! Sure, over a six-year period, but still. Fifty fucking girls? God damn” In this specific sentence the Diaz puts the reader in the position of the book, the point of view is directly towards us, we are sitting in the hot chair and we are the ones committing adultery. through out the stories Diaz switches from 1st point of view and 2nd point of view. That was an example of 2nd point of view. At the very end of the story Diaz stated “One month, two months, three months, and then some hope. Her name is Noemi, Dominican from Baní, and you meet at Sofia’s in the last months before it closes. She ain’t half your ex, but she ain’t bad, either” at this point I noticed the way of his writing changed dramatically, he starts using the word “She” as if to draw away from us and move and go to her.
