I notice a lack of synthesis or unified point or theory. In all the essays I have read including my own, interesting sources are typically introduced and explained usually showing the varying opinions and facets on a topic. It is interesting but then you are sort of left hanging. It feels incomplete. There is solid build up but it tapers out into an ending the basically says this what I found- summarizing what came before. I think we should try to offer a personal opinion on what we talk about in the whole essay instead of just presenting it. There was some of that but not in an all encompassing and concise manner. In some cases that may not be possible if one has completely conflicting and equally-convincing information but I haven’t seen that.
