Monday’s Tip of the Week: Resources on Campus

The semester is well underway and you may be finding you need a little extra help to be successful. UMass Boston offers many different kinds of offices, services, tutoring and workshops to help students succeed. Check out this list of on campus resources.

Academic Support Programs, CC-1-1300 / H-8

Academic Support Programs offers many different types of services from Subject Tutoring, the Math Resource Center, and Reading, Writing, and Study Strategies Workshops. If you are having trouble learning certain course material or having a hard time learning how to approach studying and learning in a class, this may be a great place to check out on campus. For the Spring 2013 semester, Subject Tutoring and the Math Resource Center are located on the 8th floor of the Healey Library. The Reading, Writing, and Study Skills Strategies are in room 1300 of the Campus Center.

Career Services and Internships, CC-1-1300

The Office of Career Services and Internships offers students help with career planning and as well as information on internships and co-ops. It is never too early to have start learning what type of career you are interested in. Many times when you have a solid career focus, academic success follows because you are determined to complete your coursework to help lead you to your future career.

College of Management Tutoring Center, M-5-240

The CM Tutoring Center offers subject tutoring in these foundation courses: AF 210, AF 211, AF 301, BC 230, BC 290, MSIS 110, MSIS 111L, MSIS 212, and MSIS 301. If you are enrolled in any of these courses and are looking to better understand these subject, please look to utilize the CM Tutoring Center. It is a drop in center, available on a first come, first serve basis. Check the schedule online to see when your course is offering tutoring.

Disability Services (Ross Center), M-UL-211

The Ross Center is a great resource for students who may have questions about what services  exist for students with documented disabilities. The Ross Center offers academic accommodations, resources and training in assistive technology, and information to increase the understanding of disability throughout the university community. As a student at UMass Boston, you can talk with the Ross Center to learn more about what services may help you succeed.

University Advising Center, CC-1-1100

The University Advising Center is available for academic advising and academic planning to all College of Management students before they have declared a concentration. If you are an undeclared concentrator, feel free to reach out to your UAC advisor and your PASS advisor for help with academic planning for next semester. Your advisors are also a great resource for you to get connected with any of the offices on campus listed on this page.

University Health Services, Quinn 2nd floor

The University Health Services offers medical services, mental health services, and health education and outreach. Although these issues do not always relate directly to academic success, some students may find these services helpful to resolve health concerns to be able to dedicate more time to their studies.
