first code; many issues:
– you only need to set the traits in setup – this sets their color, etc, EVERY SECOND (that’s the difference between setup and forever)
– what does repeating yield 14 times do???
– each second, you create one mosquito and then delete the egg – what are you trying to do?
second code; many issues
– as I said in class, when you do right random and left random – YOU MUST USE THE SAME NUMBERS OR THEY’LL GO IN CIRCLES
– as you’ve set it, the cleaners move randomly but tend toward the puddles; when they hit the puddle, they delete the puddle
– if you want the eggs in the puddle to die when the puddle dries:
– when cleaner hits puddle, don’t delete it, change it’s color to brown (or whatever)
– in mosquito/egg code, set them to die if the terrain color = brown
bottom code:
– why are you making the mosquitoes in the ponds at the start – just make your life simpler by scattering them – since they can fly after all
In general, you shouldn’t use code that you don’t understand.
You need to start simple (& maybe start over) – and go in this order
1) get ponds to form
2) have cleaners hit them and have them dry
3) have random rain wet them
4) add mosquitoes and have them lay eggs in the pond
5) have the eggs hatch
you should put up a note on monday that you need help with setup vs forever
