My name is Beau Dorian Andrews, and I am a senior at UMass Boston. I am majoring in English with a focus in Creative Writing, and minoring in Anthropology. I moved to Boston in the Fall of 2022 to attend university; before living here, I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. It’s been quite an adjustment! But I’m finding more things to fall in love with every day! ♥
I am an agender individual, which means that I do not experience gender. As such, I use ze/zir pronouns in English, or the elle pronoun in Spanish. Many people are new to neopronouns, so I have linked a very helpful guide on how to use them here.
Education is very important to me, and I value learning highly. I knew from a young age that I wanted to study English and sought to pursue higher education after graduating high school. It wasn’t until transferring to UMass Boston from a community college in California that I decided to add Anthropology as a minor. The intersection of language and human history fascinates me, and I love reading texts from all eras of human development and civilization to see how words have always served us.
I am passionate about language: reading it, writing it, and studying the ways it evolves and flows between people to fill individual and cultural needs. In addition to research and analytical writing, I enjoy composing poetry, short stories, and horror/suspense fiction. Outside of school, I love to craft; I make jewelry, knit, and collage in my free time!
Another very big part of my life is being a cat parent! In 2016 I adopted two kittens a month apart, and they have been with me ever since. Ziggy is a grey and white tuxedo, and Bowie is a Savannah; they may not have been littermates, but they are very much brothers.
