About Me
I am currently Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. I did my PhD work at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. My principal fields of concentration are Poverty and Inequality, Informality and Structural Change, and Political Economy of Knowledge. I work primarily on the Indian economy.
I have taught undergraduate economics classes at UMass-Amherst and at Bucknell University. These include Economic Development, Economic Principles, Introduction to Political Economy, Political Economy of Development, and Gender and Development. At UMB I teach Economic Development and Macroeconomics as well as an MA course in Political Economy.
I hold a previous PhD in Neurobiology from Duke University (Durham, NC). I switched fields in 2005, after becoming interested in problems of economic development.
