Goldwater Scholarship, and (6) The John W. Ryan Faculty Convocation Award. Particularly, the Goldwater Scholarship is a very competitive scholarship, which is one of the oldest and most prestigious national scholarships in natural science, engineering, and mathematics in the United States. Also, the Ryan Award is awarded to the student who has achieved the highest cumulative average for four semesters in residence during the freshman-sophomore years at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
