To be frank, I’ve been struggling with conceptualizing topics for my visual media project. However, two issues that currently come to mind are the effects of dating app usage as well as the effects that large amounts of screen time have on young children.
I find research on the effects of dating apps interesting because so many people around me use them. These applications are heavily relevant to today’s dating and relationship culture and mark a large change in social norms regarding dating culture within this past century. Relationships are things that we all hold close to us and, by and large, impact our lives. Research on this topic works to highlight the ways dating culture within the online world shapes you and those around you.
The effects of children’s screen time use is another topic that interests me as well. You might have heard the coined phrase “iPad kid” this term often refers to a small child glued to, as you might have guessed, an iPad. As someone who grew up valuing the outdoors and time away from screens, I find the effects of screen time, especially for young children, interesting and important.
